conflict
statement of intent
My aim is to produce a project on my website on bullying demonstrating my ideas and develop my work. Reflect based on around the theme of bullying in school. I will inspire to work and take photos like a certain photographer.
I will start by researching looking into different type of photographers and the way they take their photos. I am interested in looking at Don mcCulinns work. I gain lots of inspiration from his work. I think his black and white pictures are most effective because it sets a type of emotion to the picture and really helps you understand whats going on.
When we first found out our topic is going to be conflict I initially thought I would do violence or racism . After doing a mind map about conflict I realized there many more to pick from so I thought of bullying and different type of pictures I can take in school and different type of settings.
To show I have made progress I will use Photoshop and develop my ideas and try out different filters. After this I will go take more picture maybe in a different type of locations around the school where I think a certain a picture might look better.
I would like to try out different type of technique within my work. I would like to capture photos using shutter speed and different types of depth of field. I want to push myself and be creative and would like increase my knowledge on Photoshop.
I have 8 week to produce a project on my website and work towards my final piece. I aim to research within the first 2 weeks and start taking photo in 3rd week and hopefully see progression within my work.
As I work on his project I will label my ideas and keep developing my ideas. Thinking of ways to make my work better and try achieve a higher grade. I will get advice from my teacher and peers on how to improve my work and aim to push myself. I will also reflect on my work to see what went well and what didn't go so well and learn from my mistakes

How to analyse an image using 5Cs
content - In this picture it shows a family escaping a war zone to seek refuge. This picture was taken in Europe and the building behind them could suggest they are leaving there homes because of war. I feel the family looks like they are suffering and tired from traveling. This picture looks quite new because it has good camera quality.
composition - The photographer has used rule of third. - 2/3 is of the ground is mud and 1/3 is sky. The focus is set at a central eye view. The lighting of this is quite harsh and hard this shows the contrast of the wet mud against the blue sky. Your eye is drawn to the foreground because the family is quite close to the camera and there is a diagonal line going from the right bottom corner to top left where the heads of the people are which makes you focus of the facial expression which show suffering.
connection- I am not going to a war zone to capture my image however the inspiration I am going to use from this picture is the idea of using harsh lighting. Also I will include people maybe 3 people, with them close to the camera (foreground to catch the audience attention and show the suffering of the people by the facial expressions).
context- UNICEF saves children's lives and defends their rights. More than 16 million babies are born in a conflict this year. Refugee flows into Europe remain at an unprecedented high. Among the most vulnerable are small children who require special attention and monitoring.
comment- In my opinion this a very strong image that has lots of meaning to it. I like this picture because It shows me they are suffering because of their facial expressions. For Example the man is looking towards the ground his face looks very frustrated and tired from all the travelling and his child is crying in exhaustion. This makes me feel sympathy for the them.
